OATLY LAUNCHES NEW PLANT-BASED SPREADABLE CHEESE IN THE U.S.

Offered in Three Flavors, the Cheese Will Hit Grocery Shelves Beginning April 2024

MALMÖ, Sweden -- Today, Oatly announced the launch of oat-based spreadable cheeses in the U.S., a new product line that adds to the brand’s portfolio of oat products. Available in three delicious flavors - Original, Roasted Red Pepper and Garlic & Rosemary - the cheeses are exceptionally creamy and designed to be spreadable on your favorite snacks. They will be available nationwide beginning April 1, 2024. Shoppers can find them on shelves at Sprouts, Vons, Walmart, Target, Kroger, and more, with a retail price of $4.99. Like Oatly’s other oat-based products, the cheeses are vegan, gluten free, Non-GMO, glyphosate-free and Kosher Certified.

Committed to producing sustainable and planet-friendly products, Oatly continues to redefine the boundaries of deliciousness. Made from high-quality oats and carefully selected ingredients, the cheeses’ rich texture and vibrant, aromatic flavors deliver the same satisfying taste you would expect from a dairy-based cheese. Loyal Oatly customers and all those eating plant-based can indulge in the new cheeses without compromising on taste or quality.

“There aren’t very many, if any, oat-based cheeses on the market. Almost all non-dairy cheese alternatives are made with some variation of tree nuts, which, as you know, many people are allergic to. We saw this as an opportunity to fill a critical gap in the market. So, our team of innovators worked tirelessly to develop three delicious flavor profiles that were blended into the perfect, creamy consistency distinctive to all our products,” said Leah Hoxie, SVP of Innovation, Oatly North America. “As the plant-based food industry expands, we hope to continue broadening our product portfolio so that everyone, regardless of dietary restrictions, can enjoy a wide range of healthy and tasty non-dairy alternatives.”

Alongside the launch, Oatly set up “Go Ahead, Eat Like a Vegan,” a new blog on its website that will act as a hub for plant-based cooking enthusiasts. Oatly is collaborating with digital creators and social media chefs, such as Meredith Hayden and Jamie Milne, who will continue to develop and post easy but delicious recipes using the new cheeses. Oatly hopes this will inspire readers to develop their own creations using the cheeses, which can then be submitted for a chance to be featured on the page.

The company is determined to make switching from a dairy to plant-based diet as easy as possible by creating a range of delectable products from its signature oat base. This aligns with Oatly’s mission to lower global greenhouse gas emissions by encouraging the consumption of plant-based products, which tend to have a lower environmental impact than traditional dairy and meat options.
